Among contemporary topics, a potential for an approachable and successful film was lost with Nylon Moon (Nylonový mesiac, 1965), directed by Eduard Grečner (b. 1931). Its story, as well as the title, came from a novel by Jaroslava Blažková (b. 1933) published in 1960, the first best-seller about contemporary life since the communist takeover.
